First Private Radio Station Officially Launches in Badakhshan

A private radio station in Badakhshan province has been officially inaugurated, with its officials stating that the outlet aims to expand local information dissemination and strengthen professional journalism. According to them, the radio’s launch has created job opportunities for 10 individuals.

The station’s authorities added that the programs will focus on public awareness, reflecting local events, and addressing the needs and challenges of Badakhshan’s residents. They emphasized that efforts will be made to produce and broadcast content in line with professional journalism principles.

Badakhshan, a mountainous province in the northeast of the country, has limited access to diverse information sources in many areas. Establishing a local media outlet can play a significant role in conveying information and representing the voices of the province’s inhabitants.

This radio is the first private station to be established in Badakhshan since the Taliban administration took control. While free media activities have faced serious restrictions and challenges in recent years, media activists have consistently stressed the need to provide a safe and free environment for journalists and media organizations to continue their work without pressure or censorship.
