FAO Reaffirms Commitment to Food Support in Afghanistan Amid Ramadan

As the holy month of Ramadan begins, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has declared its ongoing support for the people of Afghanistan, who are facing significant food security and nutrition challenges.
In a released statement, FAO emphasized its commitment to backing the country’s agricultural and food systems, a sector crucial for ensuring family food supplies and sustaining domestic production. The organization highlighted the strengthening of rural livelihoods as a key priority in Afghanistan.
According to the announcement, supporting farmers, agricultural outputs, and food resource management can help maintain food production and improve nutritional conditions across various regions of the country. Agriculture represents the backbone of Afghanistan’s rural economy, with a large portion of the population reliant on it for income.
FAO also underscored the importance of creating a more hopeful future by empowering local communities and enhancing domestic production capacity—an objective that has gained even greater significance amid the current severe economic and humanitarian challenges.
