Nearly 500 Health Specialists Graduate as Taliban Officials Urge Separation of Medicine from Commerce

Nearly 500 health specialists graduated on Tuesday, February 16, in a ceremony organized by the Taliban’s Ministry of Public Health’s General Directorate of Specialty Supply. During the event, health officials emphasized adherence to ethical principles, professional commitment, and providing quality services to citizens.

Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, the Taliban’s Minister of Public Health, in his speech, urged doctors to “separate commerce from medicine,” stating that success in the profession is guaranteed only when medical knowledge is not used for commercial purposes. He highlighted the importance of maintaining trust between doctors and patients and called on the graduates to serve the people with sincerity.

According to him, out of 318 hospitals at the district level, the procurement for 100 hospitals has been completed, and practical work on their construction is set to begin soon. The Minister of Public Health also spoke about the ministry’s commitment to creating job opportunities for the new graduates.

At the same ceremony, Qari Abdul Wali Siddiqi, Deputy of Finance and Administration at the Ministry of Public Health, urged the graduates to be as diligent in national affairs as they are in their personal matters. He stressed that dedication to the profession and properly fulfilling responsibilities can ensure their professional future.

Mawlawi Abdul Baqi Haqqani, head of the National Examination Department, also emphasized raising public awareness and strengthening preventive services to combat diseases, noting increased efforts to provide better facilities to health workers.

Additionally, Mawlawi Hamdullah Naemani, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, attended the ceremony, calling the gathering an academic and scientific assembly. He urged the newly graduated doctors to treat patients kindly and provide services with patience and assurance.
