Herat Embarks on Greening Initiative with 50,000 Trees to Be Planted This Year

Local officials in Herat have announced plans to plant 50,000 saplings across various parts of the province in the current solar year. They stated that this initiative aims to expand green spaces, reduce air pollution, and enhance the urban landscape.
According to the provided information, tree planting along the highways connecting Herat, the restoration of existing green areas, and the creation of parks in the city outskirts are key components of this plan. Herat, as one of the country’s largest and most populous provinces, has faced challenges in recent years due to urban expansion and the reduction of green spaces.
Meanwhile, officials from the National Environmental Protection Agency under Taliban administration reported that approximately 17 million saplings were planted nationwide last year. They emphasized that efforts to further develop green spaces will increase in the current year.
The agency has called on national institutions, international organizations, and the private sector to cooperate in planting and maintaining saplings. Environmental experts stress that the success of such programs depends not only on planting trees but also on continuous care, water supply, and proper management of green areas.
