Afghanistan and Uzbekistan Sign 25 Trade Agreements Worth Over $300 Million

Continuing efforts to strengthen regional economic cooperation, Afghanistan and Uzbekistan have signed 25 trade agreements valued at over $300 million. These agreements were signed during a trade connectivity conference between the two countries, attended by officials and businessmen.

At the meeting, Nooruddin Azizi, Minister of Industry and Commerce, Arkinjon Turdimov, Governor of Uzbekistan’s Syrdarya Province, Mohammad Alam Jamil, Deputy Minister of Economy, representatives of Afghanistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Investment, and dozens of traders from both sides participated. Officials stated that the goal of the gathering was to expand trade relations and create new investment opportunities.

The Minister of Industry and Commerce highlighted the strong will between Kabul and Tashkent to develop economic relations, noting that trade cooperation has seen significant growth in recent years. He also announced plans to increase trade volume in 2025 compared to 2024 and added that a preferential agreement on 8 product categories from Afghanistan and 6 from Uzbekistan was also signed.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Syrdarya Province emphasized the historical and economic background of relations between the two countries, stating that dozens of Afghan traders are active in the province. He also highlighted investment opportunities, joint industrial projects, and Uzbekistan’s export capacity to European markets as important areas of cooperation between the two nations.

According to the information provided, the new agreements cover sectors including construction, food products, agriculture, furniture, clothing, and spices; sectors that can facilitate the expansion of trade exchanges and strengthen economic ties between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.
