Trump Announces $5 Billion Commitment for Gaza Reconstruction

Donald Trump, President of the United States, has announced that the member countries of the “Peace Council” will allocate over $5 billion for humanitarian aid and the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip and will deploy thousands of troops to secure the region.
On Sunday, Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social that on February 19, 2026, he will join a meeting of the Peace Council members at the “Donald J. Trump Institute for Peace” in Washington. According to him, the meeting will declare that the member countries of the council have committed to providing more than $5 billion for reconstructing Gaza.
He added that, based on this plan, thousands will be sent as international stabilization forces and local police to Gaza to maintain the security and peace of the area’s residents. Trump also emphasized that the Peace Council will be “the most important international institution in history” and stated that chairing it is a source of pride.
The first phase of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip took effect on October 10, 2025. This agreement came after indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel in the Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheikh, mediated by Egypt, Qatar, the United States, and Turkey. It is said that this agreement was based on a proposal presented by Trump to end the war in Gaza.
