Taliban Official Meets with Tourism Companies in Nangarhar to Address Sector Challenges

Mawlawi Paqqatullah Jamal, Deputy of Tourism, Finance, and Administration at the Taliban’s Ministry of Information and Culture, visited Nangarhar province to meet with officials from local tourism and pilgrimage companies. During the meeting, he listened to their problems and proposals. He emphasized that the growth of the tourism sector requires joint cooperation and stated that this sector could play a significant role in the country’s economy.

According to him, steps will be taken to address the issues faced by tourism and pilgrimage companies, and necessary facilities will be provided to develop the sector. However, in recent months, industry activists have complained about various challenges, including restrictions and a lack of organized planning in the tourism sector—factors that experts believe may affect the attraction of domestic and international tourists.

Officials from Nangarhar’s Department of Information and Culture also said they are striving to pay more attention to the cultural, historical, and tourism sites in the province. They added that the activities of tourism and pilgrimage companies not only have an economic impact but also play a role in shaping the country’s image.

Based on information presented at the meeting, currently about 280 tourism and pilgrimage companies in Nangarhar hold legal licenses, and the process of issuing licenses is ongoing. These company representatives expressed gratitude for the previous cooperation of the Department of Information and Culture, while calling for practical measures to resolve existing problems.

In conclusion, the Deputy of Tourism, Finance, and Administration assured that the suggestions made would be reviewed and actions would be taken to resolve the issues.
