Japan Supports Construction of Water Supply Network in Northeast Kabul

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) has announced the construction of a water supply system in the northeastern areas of Kabul with the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). This project will provide over 160 families with access to clean and safe drinking water at any time.
According to published information, the project aims to improve the local residents’ access to safe water. Previously, residents in these areas faced serious challenges in securing regular access to clean water.
UN-Habitat emphasized that water plays a fundamental role in maintaining health, hygiene, and the sustainability of urban life, and that providing adequate water supply infrastructure can enhance the living standards of families.
In recent years, Japan, through JICA, has supported development and humanitarian projects in Afghanistan. The construction of this water supply network is part of efforts to strengthen basic services in Kabul city.
