Iran Ready to Guarantee Purchase of Afghan Agricultural Products to Boost Trade

The head of the Iran-Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce has announced that Iran is prepared to guarantee the purchase and import of Afghanistan’s agricultural and livestock products. According to him, this initiative could improve the trade balance between the two countries and increase Afghanistan’s revenues.

Mahmoud Siyadat stated that in the first nine months of this year, Afghanistan’s exports to Iran have increased by 156 percent. He added that if cooperation between the private sectors and government bodies of both sides is strengthened, this trend could multiply several times.

He also highlighted that Afghanistan has significant capacities in agriculture, horticulture, livestock farming, cotton production, pulses, and fresh meat. With the establishment of a reliable export market, production can increase, and job opportunities within the country can be created.

Economic experts have consistently emphasized that developing the export of agricultural products, especially to regional markets, plays a crucial role in reducing economic dependency and enhancing the incomes of rural populations—a matter of particular importance given Afghanistan’s current economic situation.
