Baloch Liberation Army Claims Capture of Seven Pakistani Soldiers, Demands Prisoner Swap

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has announced that it has captured seven Pakistani army soldiers and is holding them in custody. The group released a video claiming that the soldiers are under their control and demanded a prisoner exchange for their release.
In their statement, the group gave the Pakistani army a seven-day deadline to decide on the prisoner swap proposal. They warned of “serious consequences” if their demand is not met, although no further details were provided.
So far, the Pakistani military has not issued any official response regarding the fate of the soldiers or the possibility of negotiating a prisoner exchange with the group. The silence from military officials comes amid growing concerns about the condition of those held captive.
The Baloch Liberation Army has previously claimed responsibility for abducting several Pakistani forces. According to earlier reports, in some cases, captives have been exchanged for the release of the group’s prisoners, while in others, they were killed after demands were rejected. The southwestern Pakistani province of Balochistan has long witnessed armed conflicts between security forces and separatist groups.
