US Secretary of State Rubio Questions UN’s Role in Global Crises

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has criticized the United Nations for failing to play an effective role in addressing major global conflicts, including the war in Ukraine.
Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, Rubio stated that although the UN has significant capacities, it has neither responded effectively nor played a decisive role in critical issues. He added that the international organization has been unable to end the war in Ukraine, while negotiations between parties have been advanced through the initiative and efforts of the United States.
Rubio also addressed the issue of migration in Western countries, noting that the recent widespread wave of migration has reached an unprecedented level and could pose challenges to social cohesion and the future of these countries.
Regarding relations between Washington and Brussels, the US Secretary of State said that existing disagreements stem from concerns about Europe’s future. He emphasized that the United States is not seeking to distance itself from its allies but aims to strengthen relations and revive longstanding cooperation with them.
In another part of his remarks, Rubio affirmed that the US arms sales program to meet Ukraine’s needs continues without interruption. He added that Washington is still pursuing efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine and is reviewing contentious issues between the parties.
