UN-Backed New School Opens in Afghanistan to Support Children’s Education

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) in Afghanistan has announced the construction of a new school, funded by the United Nations Special Trust Fund (UN_STFA), now available for children and youth.
According to the organization, providing sustainable access to safe and quality learning environments plays a fundamental role in shaping a bright future for the new generation. Officials have emphasized that with the operation of this school, the foundation for education and striving towards a better future has been laid for a generation of students.
UN-Habitat, which works in urban development and the improvement of essential infrastructure, considers creating safe educational spaces as part of its programs to strengthen local communities in Afghanistan.
The lack of quality educational buildings in many areas of the country remains a major challenge to children’s and adolescents’ education, and constructing such centers can improve access to education at the local level.
