Taliban Administration Dismisses Pakistani Defense Minister’s Remarks as Baseless
Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Taliban administration, described recent comments by Pakistan’s Defense Minister as “baseless” and stated that the Taliban does not attach any importance to statements made by Pakistani officials. He emphasized that the Taliban’s focus remains solely on defending Afghanistan’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In a recent interview, Mujahid said that some Pakistani officials have recently been spreading false propaganda and groundless accusations against Afghanistan. According to him, the aim of these statements is to create a negative atmosphere towards Afghanistan, a claim the Taliban administration rejects.
This response comes amid rising verbal tensions between Kabul and Islamabad over border and political issues in recent weeks. Both sides have repeatedly criticized each other concerning insecurity and instability in border areas.
Despite these tensions, Mujahid stressed that regional security requires “genuine cooperation” between countries, not the exchange of accusations. The escalation of political tensions between the two neighbors continues, while relations between Kabul and Islamabad have experienced numerous ups and downs over the past years.
