Former Pakistani Diplomats Stress Dialogue as Key to Resolving Afghanistan-Pakistan Disputes

A group of former Pakistani diplomats emphasized in a roundtable discussion held in Islamabad that dialogue and constructive engagement with Afghanistan are the only solutions to the disputes between the two countries. They warned that continued tensions could have widespread consequences for regional security and stability.

The meeting was organized by the Islamabad Strategic Studies Center on Friday. Participants highlighted Afghanistan’s current situation, stating that developments in the country directly affect regional security dynamics and instability there impacts neighboring states.

They believe that without regular channels of dialogue, managing political and security challenges will become more difficult.

Meanwhile, given the Taliban administration’s rule in Afghanistan and existing bilateral challenges, some political experts stressed that engagement must come with responsibility and a clear commitment to the principles of neighborhood. According to participants, building trust, practical cooperation, and mutual understanding are essential prerequisites for achieving sustainable stability in the region.
