Thousands of Ammunition and Weapons Discovered in Paktia Amid Attempts to Smuggle into Pakistan

A local source told Radio Omid that thousands of rounds of various weapons and a number of military equipment were discovered and seized in the Dand-e-Patan district of Paktia province. According to the source, these munitions were being moved on the slope of a mountain near a residential house and were intended to be smuggled into Pakistan.
Based on the provided information, among the seized items are 10 mine-pals, three M40 rifles, 3,543 rounds of Kalashnikov ammunition, 799 rounds of heavy Russian weapons ammunition, 3,489 rounds of M4 ammunition, 1,304 rounds of American M40 ammunition, 40 M4 magazines, and two Kalashnikov magazines.
The source added that the price of each mine-pal device is estimated between five to seven thousand dollars; a figure that indicates the high financial value of this shipment.
The discovery of such a large quantity of ammunition in a border area has raised concerns about the ongoing arms smuggling and weak monitoring of mountain regions. So far, the Taliban administration has not released further details regarding the transfer method or the possible network involved in this case.
