Over 24,000 Earthquake Victims Receive Medical Aid in Afghanistan in 2025

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Afghanistan announced that in 2025, more than 24,000 earthquake victims in the country received emergency medical services and essential assistance. According to the organization, these aid efforts were provided in response to the urgent needs of families affected by the earthquakes.

On Thursday, February 12, the ICRC posted on its X (formerly Twitter) page that the services offered included immediate treatment of the injured, provision of medicines and medical supplies, as well as vital support to improve the condition of those affected. The goal of these measures was to reduce the immediate consequences of the crisis and assist in rebuilding the lives of affected individuals.

The Red Cross committee emphasized that the timely presence of aid organizations in the affected areas plays a crucial role in saving lives and preventing the spread of health crises. The organization added that continued support for vulnerable communities remains a serious necessity.

In recent years, deadly earthquakes in various parts of Afghanistan have caused extensive casualties and impacted thousands of families. Parts of infrastructure, including homes, schools, and health centers, have been destroyed or severely damaged.

Following these events, thousands of families have been left homeless and faced harsh conditions with shortages of food, drinking water, and adequate shelter. Reports indicate that children, the elderly, and patients among the affected have faced greater risks and require ongoing support.
