Severe Visibility Drop in Kabul as Dust Forces Cautious Driving

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) reported that Kabul experienced significantly reduced visibility this morning due to heavy dust. The dust notably obscured visibility across many areas of the city. According to the mission, these weather conditions caused difficulties for aircraft takeoffs and landings, while vehicular traffic proceeded with increased caution.

UNAMA explained on its official Facebook page that this dust forms when water vapor condenses into tiny droplets dispersed in the air. Such conditions typically arise in humid weather following rainfall.

The mission added that although the morning dust poses a threat to safe travel and citizen security, the moisture resulting from recent rains and snowfall is considered a hopeful sign for drought-affected Afghanistan.
