WFP Reports Rising Child Malnutrition Rates in Afghanistan Amid Growing Crisis

The World Food Programme (WFP) has reported a daily increase in the number of children seeking treatment for malnutrition at a WFP-supported clinic in Kabul, highlighting the worsening nutrition crisis in the country.

According to WFP, approximately 3.7 million children and 1.2 million women across Afghanistan are suffering from acute malnutrition. This alarming situation poses a serious threat to the health of the next generation and requires urgent medical and support services.

The organization stated that, despite rising needs, it continues to provide life-saving nutritional assistance to ensure mothers and children can access essential treatments.

Meanwhile, the ongoing humanitarian crisis and extensive restrictions on daily life and work — including those imposed by the Taliban administration — have made it increasingly difficult for families to access health and support services, raising concerns about the future wellbeing of Afghan children.
