Pregnant Woman Rescued from Snowbound Area and Taken to Hospital in Urozgan

Due to heavy snowfall blocking the roads in the Khas district of Urozgan, a pregnant woman who lacked immediate access to medical services was transported to a hospital following a joint effort by police and local residents.

Local officials stated that the main route to reach the woman was blocked by accumulated snow, posing a serious threat to her health and that of her unborn child. Police forces, in cooperation with the community, created an alternative path over approximately 48 hours to facilitate her transfer.

Bilal Urozgani, spokesperson for the Urozgan provincial police command under Taliban administration, announced that after reaching the hospital, the woman had a normal delivery and both her and her newborn’s health condition was reported as satisfactory.

This incident once again highlights the severe challenges of accessing healthcare services in Afghanistan’s remote areas, especially during winter and in the absence of adequate road infrastructure—a problem that requires serious attention and sustainable planning.
