WFP Distributes Nutritious Bread to Afghan Schoolchildren to Boost Education and Health

The World Food Programme (WFP) has announced that under its school nutrition program, hundreds of thousands of children in Afghanistan have gained access to educational meals aimed at improving nutrition and increasing school attendance.
According to this program, approximately 880,000 children in various schools across Afghanistan received daily meals in 2025. This food aid not only meets the basic nutritional needs of the children but also encourages families to continue sending their children to school.
At Qala-e-Zaman school in Farah province, students start their school day with “Plus Bread,” a fortified bread enriched with protein, vitamins, and minerals designed to enhance concentration and mental readiness.
The World Food Programme emphasizes that regular access to healthy food in educational settings plays a vital role in improving learning outcomes and reducing school dropout rates, especially amid Afghanistan’s challenging economic and social conditions.
