Taliban Forces Detain 1,755 People for Illegal Border Crossing in Herat

The 207 Al-Farooq Corps, affiliated with the Taliban administration, announced that during operations over the past week in the Ghoryan and Kohsan districts of Herat province, 1,755 individuals were identified and detained on charges of attempting to cross the province’s borders illegally.
According to the statement, the detainees were returned to their original areas after the necessary investigations. No further details were provided regarding the nature of the investigations, the duration of the detentions, or the legal framework for these actions.
These operations come amid growing concerns in recent years about travel restrictions and a lack of transparency in detention processes, which have alarmed local residents and civil rights organizations. Critics emphasize that adherence to legal principles and human dignity must be guaranteed in such cases.
Herat province, due to its geographical location and shared border with Iran, serves as a major route for travel and migration. Security developments in this area have consistently had broad repercussions for the local population.
