Khalilzad: Taliban Actions Lead to ISIS Members Moving to Pakistan, Raising Security Concerns

Zalmay Khalilzad, former U.S. Special Representative for Afghan Reconciliation, has stated that recent actions taken by the Taliban administration against ISIS have resulted in new security repercussions. According to him, as a consequence of these measures, several ISIS members have left Afghanistan and relocated to Pakistan.
Khalilzad added that these individuals are now being redeployed by Pakistan against Afghanistan, a development that could escalate cross-border security threats and exacerbate regional instability.
These remarks come amid ongoing Taliban claims of having completely suppressed ISIS in Afghanistan. However, critics argue that the lack of transparency in security policies and the inability to manage regional consequences have created opportunities for militant groups to relocate and reorganize beyond the borders.
Security analysts believe that any movement of ISIS forces to neighboring countries poses not only a threat to Afghanistan but also a broader challenge to regional stability, demanding clear and responsible accountability from the Taliban administration.
