Construction of Standard Canals Begins in 15 Districts of Herat

The Municipality of Herat Province has announced the commencement of a project to construct standard canals in 15 districts of Herat city. The project, costing over 24 million Afghanis, aims to improve the urban drainage system.

Mohammad Naser Armal, spokesperson for the Herat Municipality, stated that the project officially started on Monday at various locations across the fifteen districts of the city. It involves building standard canals in areas that require them.

According to him, the main goals of this project include preventing surface water runoff, reducing problems caused by rainfall, increasing the safety of urban infrastructure, and facilitating easier movement for residents and pedestrians.

The Herat Municipality spokesperson further added that the project is being carried out by the construction and road-building company ‘Herat Tower’. The municipality seeks to strengthen the urban development process and provide better services to residents through such initiatives.
