Amrullah Saleh Demands Concrete Action from Pakistan Following Islamabad Suicide Attack

Amrullah Saleh, former First Vice President of Afghanistan’s previous republic, responded to the suicide attack targeting Shia Muslims in Islamabad by stating that if Pakistan has truly identified or detained the main mastermind of the incident, it must prove this claim through concrete action.

Saleh emphasized that the presence of credible evidence regarding the principal planner of the attack means all conditions for immediate action are met, leaving no room for delay. According to him, now that documents and information about the massacre of worshippers in the heart of Pakistan are available, the country’s army and security forces are obligated to seriously act to arrest the masterminds and perpetrators.

He added critically that Pakistan should not limit itself to verbal reactions and Twitter messages but must demonstrate its anger and response through tangible measures; otherwise, serious questions will arise about the effectiveness of such a large army.

These remarks came after a suicide bombing in Islamabad on Friday that killed and injured hundreds of Shia Muslims. The Islamic State (ISIS) claimed responsibility for the attack.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s security and intelligence agencies have announced that the primary mastermind behind the attack, along with several others, has been arrested. Previously, Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif claimed that the planners and perpetrators were Afghan nationals who frequently traveled to Afghanistan, a claim that was denied by the Taliban administration.
