WFP Food Aid Continues to Reach Remote Residents of Kandahar

The World Food Programme (WFP) says its aid in Kandahar province, especially in remote areas, is vital for 286,000 residents. In the village of Alidad, one of Kandahar’s hard-to-reach areas, families like Zazi’s rely on these aid supplies to meet their basic food needs.
The agency warns that humanitarian needs in Afghanistan are rising sharply, with millions facing severe food insecurity. According to WFP estimates, about 17.4 million people in Afghanistan are experiencing acute food shortages.
The World Food Programme emphasizes that despite widespread challenges, it is working with its partners to continue delivering food and emergency support. The main goal is to provide assistance to communities most vulnerable to poverty, unemployment, and reduced access to food.
Humanitarian experts say continuing this aid is crucial to preventing a worsening humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, especially in southern provinces where access to services and livelihood opportunities is more limited.
