Pakistan’s Chief Cleric Strongly Criticizes Taliban Administration Over Islamabad Mosque Attack

Tahir Ashrafi, head of Pakistan’s Council of Ulema, sharply criticized the Taliban administration, stating that the individual who carried out the suicide attack on the Shia mosque in Islamabad was trained on Afghan soil. He made this claim within the framework of Pakistan’s security concerns and called for serious attention to its consequences.
Mr. Ashrafi further warned that Pakistan has faced much greater challenges in the past and has overcome them. According to him, comparing these experiences with what he described as the “minor deal” of the Taliban administration shows that Islamabad will not back down in the face of pressure.
These remarks come amid tense relations between Pakistan and the Taliban administration in recent months due to security issues and mutual accusations regarding armed groups operating across the border. Critics argue that the Taliban administration’s failure to control extremist groups has contributed to regional instability and has not provided clear responses to neighboring countries’ concerns.
