Severe Drinking Water Shortage in Ghormach, Badghis Province Leaves Residents Waiting for Hours

Residents of Ghormach district in Badghis province are suffering from a severe shortage of drinking water, reporting that they have to wait in long queues for hours to obtain water. This situation has made daily life difficult for hundreds of families.
According to the residents, water supply in this district mainly relies on solar-powered systems, which fail to operate during cloudy and rainy days. They emphasize that there is only one water well serving more than 200 families; this well was drilled with the support of United Nations partner organizations, but its capacity does not meet the residents’ needs.
Amid increasing impacts of climate change and reduced support from humanitarian organizations, access to safe drinking water in remote areas of Afghanistan has become an urgent necessity. The people of Ghormach are calling on the Taliban administration to take serious measures to address this crisis by establishing sustainable water infrastructure and preventing the worsening of health and humanitarian issues.
