Construction Begins on 8-Kilometer Road in Central Kandahar

The Kandahar provincial authority has announced the official commencement of construction on a new road in the center of the province, stretching approximately eight kilometers from Emarat Crossroad to Nasaji Bridge, with a width of 80 meters.
According to the information provided, the total cost of this project is estimated at 1.8 billion Afghanis. The initial phase, involving site preparation and the start of construction operations, has begun with an expenditure of 115 million Afghanis.
Local officials under the Taliban administration have stated that the second phase of the project will start next year. However, further details regarding the completion timeline, remaining financial resources, and quality oversight have not yet been clearly disclosed.
While the implementation of infrastructure projects can improve urban transportation, some residents of Kandahar emphasize that financial transparency, prioritization of urban needs, and the Taliban administration’s accountability for public budget spending are fundamental issues that must be seriously addressed.
