Algerian Court to Review Espionage Case Involving French Company

Algeria’s judicial system has announced that on Monday, it will review a major and sensitive case related to economic and security espionage in the country. The case involves accusations of transferring sensitive information to foreign parties.
According to published information, officials from the Algerian branch of the French company “Orl Amarant International” are expected to appear in court in Dar El Beida. These individuals are accused of gathering information related to Algeria’s security and economic situation and providing it to foreign institutions or companies. Judicial authorities say this action could harm the country’s national economy.
Investigations into the case began in March 2024 by a team combating economic and financial crimes. The inquiries reveal that the company, under the cover of activities such as factory protection and asset transportation, engaged in suspicious operations.
The investigative reports indicate that the accused were involved in preparing security maps, using secret communication equipment at Houari Boumediene and Oran airfields, conducting illegal baggage inspections, and monitoring activities of companies including Alstom in Mostaganem, a Spanish company named Andra, and Neptune Bank. Algerian judicial officials have emphasized that the case will continue to be handled with utmost sensitivity.
