Salang Highway Reopens After Snow Clearance

The Taliban-run Ministry of Public Works has announced that the Salang Highway has been reopened to traffic following snow clearance operations, with passenger vehicle movement returning to normal on this route.

Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas, the ministry’s spokesperson, stated that the passage of cargo vehicles from north to south through the Salang route is now also permitted. This route plays a vital role in connecting the northern provinces with the capital.

According to him, snow clearance efforts have not been limited to Salang alone and have continued in several other provinces.

Based on information from the Ministry of Public Works, some roads in the provinces of Bamyan, Maidan Wardak, Sar-e Pol, and Ghor have also been cleared of snow and reopened to traffic.
