Rare Mountain Pika Released Back into Its Natural Habitat in Nangarhar

The head of Nangarhar’s Environmental Protection Department announced that a rare wild animal known as the “mountain pika” has been released back into its natural habitat in Chaparhar district after necessary examinations.

According to the Nangarhar provincial media office, the animal was temporarily captured by local residents to prevent any potential harm to people. Environmental officials, upon receiving the report, examined the animal’s health condition.

Local sources say that after confirming the pika’s full health, it was released in one of the natural areas of the same district to return to its natural life cycle.

According to an order issued by the Taliban administration, hunting any wild animals and rare birds is prohibited across the country; a measure that requires serious monitoring and widespread awareness among residents of different regions to be effective.
