ISIS Claims Responsibility for Deadly Attack on Shia Mosque in Islamabad

ISIS has claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack on a Shia mosque and Hussainiya in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. According to local officials, the attack left dozens dead and injured. International media, including Reuters, reported that the attack took place yesterday evening during a religious ceremony at the Khadija Al-Kubra mosque and Hussainiya. Pakistani security sources have confirmed the explosion. Islamabad police stated that at least 31 people were killed and 169 others injured in the blast. Some of the injured are in critical condition, and emergency teams have transferred them to medical facilities. According to Pakistani media reports, the incident occurred in the Tarlai area located in the southeast of Islamabad, a region that has seen security threats in recent years. This attack has once again heightened concerns about the security of religious sites and the inability of security agencies to prevent attacks by extremist groups.
