Former Pakistani Official Claims Taliban, TTP, and Baloch Liberation Army Plot Major Attack in Chaman

Jan Achakzai, former Information Minister of Pakistan’s Balochistan province, has alleged that Afghanistan’s Taliban, the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), and the group known as the Baloch Liberation Army are jointly planning a major attack in the Chaman area along the Durand Line border.
According to Achakzai, the attack could take place within the next two to three weeks, with the primary aim of destabilizing security in this border region. He stated that defense installations, border posts, and civilians would be potential targets to inflict maximum damage.
The former Pakistani official further claimed that these groups view the ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States as a suitable opportunity to implement their plans. Without providing concrete evidence, he described the situation as a “golden opportunity” for them.
Meanwhile, the Taliban administration in Afghanistan has repeatedly stated officially that it will not allow Afghan soil to be used against any country, especially Pakistan, and has based its policy on non-interference in neighbors’ internal affairs and ensuring regional stability.
However, critics note that Jan Achakzai has a history of making such claims, and previous warnings have largely remained media statements without concrete evidence of their realization. Nonetheless, concerns about the activities of cross-border armed groups and their impact on residents of border areas persist.
