Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Switzerland Criticizes Taliban Leadership for Living in ‘Parallel World’

Nasir Ahmad Andisha, Afghanistan’s ambassador to Switzerland, has criticized the recent statements of the Taliban administration’s spokesperson, saying that the group is living in a ‘parallel world’—a world where the demands of the Afghan people and internationally accepted principles are ignored.
On Saturday, 7 February, Andisha wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) page that Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Taliban administration, has recently launched a widespread campaign to dismiss all criticisms as unfounded, attempting to portray opposing views as invalid.
According to Afghanistan’s ambassador to Switzerland, the Taliban administration has not limited itself to domestic critics but has simultaneously labeled the remarks of the Russian Foreign Minister, the United Nations Security Council report, and the positions of the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as ‘baseless’; an approach that, in his view, indicates the group’s deep disconnect from the political realities of the world.
Andisha added that historical experience shows such stances are not sustainable, emphasizing: “The day will come when today’s Taliban spokesperson, like many spokespersons of ideological regimes, will say: I was only following orders.”
He stressed that such reactions, instead of demonstrating strength, are a clear sign of the Taliban administration’s lack of legitimacy and increasing political isolation regionally and internationally—a situation whose consequences will be felt most by the people of Afghanistan.
