Latvian Police Launch Investigation into Possible Human Trafficking Following Epstein Document Leak

Latvian police have announced the initiation of a new criminal investigation into possible human trafficking after the release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, the American financier and sex offender. The investigation focuses on the potential recruitment and transfer of Latvian citizens for sexual exploitation in the United States.
According to an official police statement, the primary objective of the inquiry is to clarify how Latvian nationals may have been recruited and their connections to networks mentioned in the Epstein documents. Police have urged individuals who suspect they might be victims in this case to contact judicial authorities and share any relevant information.
Following reports by Latvian public radio revealing that the leaked documents include passport information and travel details of several Latvian women, Edgars Rinkēvičs, the country’s president, called for an official investigation to be launched. These documents are part of millions of records released by the US Department of Justice related to the Epstein case.
In response to these reports, Eric Nissans, head of the modeling agency “Natalie,” which appears in the documents, denied any knowledge of wrongdoing or illegal activity. Meanwhile, the leaked files have highlighted Epstein’s extensive connections with notable figures in politics, business, and technology, including Donald Trump, the current US president, Bill Clinton, Elon Musk, and Bill Gates.
In a related development, Lithuania, Latvia’s neighboring country, also announced the start of a separate investigation into human trafficking earlier this week. This move underscores growing regional concern over the ramifications of the Epstein case.
