Retaining Wall Completed in Qalat City, Zabul to Protect Against Floods

Local officials in Zabul province have announced the completion and commissioning of a retaining wall in the provincial capital, Qalat city. According to them, the project was carried out at an estimated cost of nearly five million Afghanis and aims to reduce flood risks in the area.

Officials from the Taliban administration in Zabul stated that the construction costs of this retaining wall were funded by the International Organization for Migration (IOM). This international agency has been active in recent years in reducing the vulnerability of local communities to natural disasters in Afghanistan.

The constructed wall measures 322 meters in length, 3.67 meters in height, and 60 centimeters in width. Officials say that with the completion of this project, dozens of jeribs of agricultural land, more than 30 residential houses, and several public facilities have been protected from flood risks.

Zabul province is one of the regions that faces severe threats from floods during the rainy season, with residents of some areas having suffered significant damages in recent years.
