Jowzjan Governor Promises to Address Districts’ Issues Following Visits

Maulvi Abdullah Sarhadi, the Taliban-appointed governor of Jowzjan province, visited the districts of Qarqin, Khum Ab, Mardyan, Mangajik, Aqcha, Faizabad, and Khanqah, meeting with residents to hear their problems and needs firsthand, according to local officials.

Residents of these districts separately complained about the lack of quality roads, electricity shortages, threats from the Amu River flooding causing damage to agricultural lands and homes, insufficient healthcare facilities, the need to repair and build schools, and lack of drinking water—issues they say have gone unaddressed for years.

During these meetings, some participants expressed their support for the Taliban administration; however, the extensive listing of problems indicates a persistent gap between promises and the delivery of basic services, underscoring a growing demand for effective and transparent action.

Governor Sarhadi expressed gratitude for the people’s trust, stating that coordination between the community and officials is essential for progress. He assured that the raised problems would be reviewed with relevant departments. Meanwhile, residents expect that these reviews will lead to tangible improvements in vulnerable areas.

Additionally, heads of several departments, including intelligence and public health, provided updates on security conditions, healthcare services, and development programs, pledging to seriously pursue the people’s demands—promises seen as crucial for improving the daily lives of Jowzjan’s residents.
