New Road Construction in Fayzabad Aims to Ease Severe Traffic Congestion

In response to repeated complaints from residents of Badakhshan province about severe traffic congestion in Fayzabad city, the municipal authorities have announced the commencement of construction on a new road in coordination with the Department of Mines.

According to provided information, the road will be 340 meters long and 15 meters wide, with an estimated construction cost of 27 million Afghanis. Municipal officials state that this project will be implemented in one of the densely populated urban areas to reduce traffic pressure on the main routes.

As the capital of Badakhshan, Fayzabad has experienced increased vehicle traffic in recent years while urban infrastructure development has not kept pace with population growth. This situation has repeatedly caused dissatisfaction among residents and difficulties accessing urban services.

Residents of Badakhshan have welcomed the municipality’s decision and say that the timely and quality implementation of this project could alleviate some of the city’s longstanding traffic problems. However, citizens emphasize that the Taliban administration must undertake long-term and transparent urban development planning for Fayzabad alongside temporary projects.
