Mobile Health Teams Resume Operations in Remote Areas of Nimroz Province

Mobile health teams have resumed their activities in several remote areas of Nimroz province’s center and the Delaram district after months of interruption. This move follows reports highlighting the lack of basic services, especially healthcare.

Previously, residents of several villages in Nimroz had complained in media interviews about the absence of clinics and limited access to health services, calling for the deployment of mobile teams. These complaints were reflected in reports focusing on the consequences of the lack of healthcare and other essential needs.

It was added that traveling to the provincial center for minor illnesses involves approximately 10 kilometers of distance and significant transport and medication costs. However, these services are now being provided free of charge locally by the Afghanistan Red Crescent Society.

Meanwhile, Naqeebullah Nourzad, the representative of the Afghanistan Red Crescent Society in Nimroz, states that two mobile health teams from the organization are active in Zaranj city and Delaram district, with their main focus on villages deprived of healthcare services.

According to him, these activities are conducted in coordination with the Public Health Directorate to avoid overlap and ensure that needy areas are specifically covered. Each mobile health team includes a specialist doctor, midwife, pharmacist, vaccinator, and driver—a combination capable of partially addressing the healthcare service gaps in remote areas. Nevertheless, residents continue to demand sustainable and permanent access to health services.
