Thousands of Acres of Government Land Transferred to Taliban Offices in Kabul

The Kabul provincial administration announced that, in coordination with the Land Authority and based on directives from the Taliban leadership, a number of government-owned lands in various parts of Kabul have been transferred to different administrative offices. These transfers took place during the years 1403 and 1404 of the Solar Hijri calendar (2024-2025) and were conducted according to existing laws and regulations.
According to the released information, the purpose of this move is to strengthen public services, implement development projects, meet administrative needs, and ensure the organized management of state assets. The Taliban administration emphasized that these land transfers were carried out in a “legal and effective” manner.
The Kabul provincial statement noted that among more than ten cases of land assignments across the city, 2,278 acres in Bagram district were handed over by the Land Authority to the Ministry of Refugees and Returnees.
However, no further details were provided regarding the selection process for recipient offices, transparency criteria, or how the usage of these lands will be monitored — an issue that has repeatedly been highlighted by citizens and oversight entities in recent years as a significant challenge in managing public assets under the Taliban administration.
