Taliban Authorities Close 13 Pharmacies in Kabul Following Inspections

The General Directorate of Public Health under the Taliban administration announced that, following recent inspections in Kabul, 13 pharmacies and two medicine warehouses in the 2nd, 9th, 11th, and 16th districts have been shut down. This action was taken after reviewing the conditions of medicine supply centers and food stores.
According to a statement released today by the Directorate, monitoring teams visited approximately 39 pharmacies and food stores across different parts of Kabul. The purpose of these inspections was to oversee the activities of these centers and assess compliance with established standards.
The General Directorate of Public Health stated that the inspections aim to control prices, prevent hoarding and monopolies, ensure the quality of medicines, and enforce health regulations. However, many Kabul residents have consistently demanded greater transparency, continuous monitoring, and accountability from officials regarding violations.
Health experts emphasize that regular and impartial oversight of the pharmaceutical market can play a significant role in protecting public health, provided that the process is sustained fairly and without discrimination.
