Taliban Official Meets Afghan Money Changers to Discuss Financial Market and Currency Exchange Role

Dr. Mullah Abdul Wasi Khadem, Director General of the Prime Minister’s Office under the Taliban administration, met with officials and members of the Afghanistan Money Changers and Monetary Services Union in Kabul to discuss the state of the currency market and the role of money changers in the country’s financial circulation.
According to Mr. Khadem, Shahzada Bazaar, as one of the main centers of currency exchange, is considered public property for all residents of Afghanistan. He emphasized that any regulation, reform, and improvement in this area can have a direct impact on the country’s economic situation. He stressed that maintaining the credibility and status of this center requires serious attention and management.
The Director General of the Prime Minister’s Office further assured that the requests and proposals raised by the Money Changers Union would be addressed. He added that resolving internal issues within this sector should be done through cooperation and mutual understanding among the money changers themselves.
Meanwhile, the Afghanistan Money Changers and Monetary Services Union officials also expressed their views and concerns, acknowledging the Taliban administration’s declared efforts to address problems in this sector. However, the money changers consistently emphasize the need for transparency, regulatory stability, and predictable decision-making in the financial domain.
