Taliban’s Economic Deputy Meets High-Level Turkmenistan Delegation in Herat

Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Deputy Head of Economic Affairs of the Taliban administration, is scheduled to hold an official meeting today, Sunday, 12th Dalw, in Herat province with a high-level delegation from Turkmenistan led by Rashid Meredov, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan.
According to a statement from the Economic Deputy Office of the Prime Minister, the main focus of this meeting is to explore ways to expand bilateral relations and discuss economic and trade cooperation between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan. This meeting is part of regular contacts between the two sides to follow up on projects and economic interactions.
According to released information, Rashid Meredov arrived in Herat on Saturday via the Turghundi border crossing, enabling this meeting. Turghundi is considered one of the important trade gateways between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan.
It has also been reported that Rashid Meredov, alongside Naibullah Badri, the Taliban administration’s Minister of Mines and Petroleum, visited the Turghundi border and the TAPI gas pipeline project. The TAPI project, regarded as one of the major regional initiatives, has consistently been a subject of economic discussions between the two parties.
