Preliminary Survey Completed for 110 MW Wind Power Project in Laghman Province

The Ministry of Energy and Water has announced the completion of the preliminary technical survey and land verification for the 110-megawatt wind power project in Laghman province. If implemented, this project could meet part of the province’s electricity needs.
According to information released by the ministry’s press office, a technical team from the Directorate of Sustainable Energy met with Mawlawi Shir Jan Rashidi, head of Laghman’s Water and Energy Department, along with officials from several related directorates. They discussed the locations and technical conditions for installing wind power generation equipment.
Simultaneously, joint technical teams from the Ministry of Energy and Water and the Laghman Water and Energy Department inspected designated sites in the Badpakh and Qargha districts and conducted the initial technical survey for producing 110 megawatts of wind power.
The Ministry of Energy and Water stated that, besides supplying electricity to the residents of these areas, the project will provide additional benefits. However, no further details have been provided regarding the project’s implementation timeline or its funding sources. Lack of transparency in the execution of infrastructure projects, including in the energy sector, has consistently been a serious concern regarding the Taliban administration’s performance.
