Exports from Shir Khan Border Crossing in Kunduz See Significant Increase

Officials from the Kunduz Chamber of Commerce and Investment report that exports through the Shir Khan border crossing in northern Afghanistan have increased compared to last year, with the number of cargo trucks exporting goods having multiplied several times. According to this organization, last year exports were carried out via 1,472 cargo trucks. However, since the beginning of this year, more than 3,055 cargo trucks have transported trade goods out of the country.

Masoud Wahdat, Director of Export Development and Investment at the Kunduz Chamber of Commerce, stated that the exported items mainly include vegetables, raisins, potatoes, fruits, and some other products, which have been sent to Tajikistan, China, Russia, and Kyrgyzstan. He added that following the halt of trade with Pakistan, these countries have opened new avenues for commerce with Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, several traders active at the Shir Khan border crossing have expressed satisfaction with the facilities provided, saying that their goods are allowed to be exported without serious obstacles after arriving at customs. Nevertheless, economic experts emphasize that the sustainability of this trend requires transparency, regulatory stability, and the prevention of arbitrary practices within administrative structures.

Haji Bitullah, spokesperson for Kunduz province, announced that Taliban administration officials are striving to reduce the problems of residents, especially traders, and to provide more conveniences—a matter that traders believe requires practical and sustained measures in customs and transit areas.
