Afghanistan Meteorology Department Warns of Heavy Snow and Rainfall in 18 Provinces

The Meteorology Directorate of the Taliban’s Ministry of Transport and Aviation has announced that on Friday, 10th Dalw, 18 provinces in Afghanistan will face heavy snowfall and rainfall; conditions that could impact transportation and daily life for residents.
According to this forecast, the provinces of Baghlan, Parwan, Panjshir, Maidan Wardak, Ghazni, Daykundi, Zabul, Urozgan, Kandahar, Helmand, Nimroz, Farah, Herat, Ghor, Badghis, Faryab, and Sar-e Pol are included in this warning. Snowfall amounts in different areas are estimated between 10 to 35 centimeters, and rainfall between 10 to 40 millimeters.
The Meteorology Directorate also reported the possibility of strong winds ranging from 50 to 95 kilometers per hour in the central and western provinces and along the Salang Pass route; a critical passage whose closure has historically caused extensive economic and human consequences.
Alongside these warnings, there is also the risk of floods in warmer regions; a danger that, without effective management and preparedness from responsible bodies, could cause further damage to residents. Since the beginning of this week, several provinces have experienced heavy snowfall, resulting in road closures and fatal incidents.
Previously, the Taliban administration announced that casualties from natural disasters in recent days have exceeded 60 people; a figure that once again underscores the urgent need for timely communication, readiness of emergency agencies, and serious attention to the safety of the population.
