Taliban Officials Hold Video Talks with Turkmenistan on Joint Projects

The Taliban administration’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting head of the ministry, held a video conversation with Rashid Meredov, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan, discussing bilateral relations and regional cooperation.

According to the ministry’s press release, the discussion focused on expanding cooperation between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan as well as examining future joint projects. Both sides identified regional connectivity and economic initiatives as key topics of their talks.

During the call, Amir Khan Muttaqi mentioned the commencement of practical work on the TAPI project and noted progress in both the railway sector and the TAPI pipeline project. These projects are considered major regional initiatives aimed at enhancing transit and economic cooperation among neighboring countries.

Meanwhile, Rashid Meredov emphasized the importance of implementing joint economic projects and deemed further expansion of bilateral relations necessary. Turkmenistan, a neighboring country of Afghanistan, has concentrated on economic and energy cooperation with Kabul in recent years.
