US and Taliban Continue Talks on Prisoner Exchange, Taliban Seek Clear Agreement

According to CBS News, Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman for the Taliban administration, stated that talks between the group and the United States regarding a prisoner exchange are ongoing.
Mujahid emphasized that these negotiations should reach “clear results” and a final conclusion to guarantee the release of detainees on both sides. He stressed that the Taliban administration desires to conclude this process with a clear agreement.
The Taliban spokesman also confirmed that an American citizen named Dennis Kyle has been held by the group for about a year, and no agreement for his exchange has been reached so far. No further details about his legal status or place of detention have been provided.
Mujahid, referring to several Taliban members held in the United States, stated that their fate is the same as other detainees and spoke about the suffering of their families. This comes amid ongoing criticism from human rights organizations concerning the continued detention of individuals without transparent judicial processes, raising questions about the Taliban administration’s commitment to human rights principles and international accountability.
