UK Won’t Choose Between US and China, Says Prime Minister Starmer

London: The UK Prime Minister has announced that the country does not intend to choose between the United States and China in its foreign policy and will pursue a balanced approach.
Keir Starmer said on Monday, January 26, in an interview with Bloomberg News ahead of his trip to China, that the UK will maintain its special and longstanding relationship with the United States but that ignoring China, as the world’s second-largest economy, would not be a reasonable decision.
He emphasized that London has close trade, security, and defense ties with Washington, which he considers an important part of the UK’s national interests.
However, Starmer added that the economic opportunities in engaging with China are also significant, and the UK should not overlook these capacities in its foreign and economic policy.
