Four Professors Dismissed from Faryab University’s Sharia Faculty by Taliban Authorities

Local sources in Faryab province confirm that the Taliban administration has dismissed four faculty members from the Sharia Faculty at Faryab University. These dismissals occurred in recent days, and no official reason has yet been provided for the decision.

According to a document obtained by media outlets, Abdul Nasir and Ghulam Rabbani, residents of the Tur Pashto area, Jalaluddin Ayoubi from Almar district, and Asadullah, a resident of the Ghalimbaf area in Faryab, have been prohibited from continuing their activities at this faculty. These individuals were formal members of the academic staff at the mentioned university.

Local Taliban officials in Faryab have so far not responded to inquiries regarding the motives, criteria, or details of this decision. The lack of transparency in such decisions has heightened concerns among faculty members and students.

This event follows reports from recent months originating from various provinces about the dismissal, reassignment, and exclusion of university professors. Critics say this trend is part of a policy aimed at homogenizing and restricting the academic environment, which could seriously harm the independence of higher education institutions, academic freedom, and the quality of education in the country.
